A tag trailer, also known as a tag-along trailer is a trailer that is towed behind a vehicle to transport heavy equipment, vehicles, or other payloads. Tag trailers can be attached to a vehicle using a bumper hitch or pintle hitch. The primary advantage of these trailers is they are designed not to impose a load on the axle group of the towing vehicle. They can also be more cost-effective than a gooseneck trailer and can be towed by a variety of vehicles, including SUVs and motorhomes.
A tag trailer is considered a Class 8 trailer if the trailer has a GVWR of 33,000 pounds or more.
